ScamBounce

Frequently asked questions

Answers below reflect how ScamBounce has been described in product and engineering work on the Android app, alongside published policies from Social Play Systems. For legally binding terms, see the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

What is ScamBounce?

ScamBounce is an Android app focused on call screening and scam awareness. It helps you reduce interruptions from suspected scam or spam callers using Android’s call screening role, your block list, optional rules (such as area codes or unknown callers), and system or network spam signals where available.

How does call screening work on Android?

On supported devices (Android 10 / API 29 and above), apps can hold the call screening role and decide what happens before you answer — for example, allow the call, reject it, or send it to voicemail quietly. ScamBounce is built around this flow rather than listening to live audio.

Does ScamBounce listen to, record, or transcribe my calls?

No. Per Social Play Systems’ disclosure for ScamBounce, the app does not listen to calls, record calls, read text messages, or sell call data.

Can the app forward an incoming scam call to another phone number automatically?

Not in the way carrier-grade ‘bounce to another number’ forwarding usually works for an active inbound call. Android’s CallScreeningService decides outcomes before pickup (such as voicemail). Incoming call forwarding to arbitrary numbers is generally a carrier feature (conditional forwarding codes), not something a normal Play Store app can script per live call. Some products may offer optional helpers related to carrier forwarding — always follow your carrier’s guidance.

What Android version do I need?

ScamBounce targets modern Android versions that support the call screening role—typically Android 10 (API 29) or newer for core screening behavior. Exact requirements may vary by release; check Google Play listing details for your build.

How do subscriptions and billing work?

Purchases through the Google Play Store are billed and managed by Google Play. Pricing, trials, renewals, cancellations, and refunds follow Google Play’s policies and the purchase screens shown at checkout.

What permissions might ScamBounce request?

Depending on features you enable, the app may ask for phone / caller ID / call screening permissions, contacts (for contact matching), notifications, and other Android permissions disclosed in the app. Permissions are used only to deliver the described functionality.

What are family or multi-device plans?

Family-oriented plans are meant for lawful use by a parent, guardian, or account holder who has authority to install and manage the app on added devices. Do not use ScamBounce for harassment, unauthorized surveillance, or monitoring without consent where required by law.

Will ScamBounce catch every scam or spam call?

No screening tool can promise perfect detection. Signals can be incomplete, outdated, or ambiguous. You may see false positives (legitimate calls flagged) or misses (harmful calls not flagged). Stay cautious with unknown callers, links, and payment requests.

How do I delete my account or data?

See the Delete account page for instructions and what may be removed vs retained for legal, billing, or security reasons. You can also clear local-only data by uninstalling the app or clearing app storage on your device.
